Membership
We offer 3 tiers of membership to meet your needs. Members are folks who have taken a class with us or a sufficient alternative with approval. We have limited spots available for each tier. All memberships require a $100 initiation fee*.
Bronze - $90/month: Come in during all member open times, get access to wheels, slab roller, glazes, and shared tools. Get 20% off classes and workshops! Must take all personal items back with you including your clay, tools, and in progress items. Firing cost is 3¢/ cubic inch for bisque and 3¢/ cubic inch for mid fire.
Silver - $130/month: Everything bronze offers plus a place to keep your clay and a storage shelf.
Gold - $170/month: Everything bronze offers, a storage cubby, and one bag of clay per month.
*initiation fee waived when signing up within 3 months of taking a 6 week class with us.
The who: ages 18+ (or families who create together, ages 14+ but must be accompanied by a paying adult with each visit)
The what: Ceramic + Pottery studio for Members
The where: 1133 Grant Avenue Novato CA. Marin Pottery is easy to access from highway 101 and has very easy parking. Marin Pottery is a well-lit studio offering a unique boutique-type setting. Within walking distance are many coffee shops and an abundant choice of lunch and dinner venues (not to mention some great wine bars).
The when:
Monday 8a-10p (a class happens from 6:30-8:30, you may come in but limited access to some areas)
Tuesday 8a-10p
Wednesday 8a-4p
Thursday 8a-10p (drop in to public happens 5-8pm)
Friday 8a-4:00, 5:30-9p
Saturday 8a-10p (drop in to public happens 10am-1pm)
Sunday 8a-10p (check calendar for party)
Weekend hours are 8a-10p with the exception of special events scheduled. This is a community space and we host parties and workshops occasionally but will always let you know 1 week before event. These dates and times may change without notice.
The why: You love clay and are looking to have a space to continue your craft, get back into your craft, or have taken a class and want to continue what you have learned in a supportive, beautiful, clay community. Our cozy boutique pottery studio is the perfect space to feel safe, create freely, fuel your creativity, and to be inspired by others.
The how: Please reach out at info.marinpottery@gmail.com along with some photos of your work and your history in pottery. Our members are accepted based on the level of understanding you have of what it takes to be a member of a community studio in regards to cleanliness, communication, organization, equipment operations, your ability to use the studio safely without supervision, personal etiquette, and knowledge of closing the studio. There is a one month probation period unless you have been enrolled in one of our 6-8 week pottery classes. Payment is a recurring monthly subscription fee that can be stopped at any time in addition to a one time, $100 initiation fee.
Members will have access to:
•slab roller
•potter’s wheel
•handbuilding tables
•underglazes (Amaco and Stroke and Coat wonder glaze)
•12+ glazing dipping colors
•kiln firing-bisque weekly
• cone 5 firing as needed (once there’s enough items for a full kiln, once a month at minimum)
•various hump and slump molds
•brushes
•fun tools to experiment with (textured rolling pins, large wooden Tibetan stamps, cookie cutters)
Other bits of info:
•glaze pieces will be fired to cone 5 electric
•Open studio participants must be 18+ or 14+ and accompanied by a paying adult member
•All work must be collected or glazed within two weeks of creation
